Some tips required in boating

There are a few things that one must always keep in mind when out on a boating expedition. Safety must never be compromised when boating and some basic rules must always be followed.
Firstly, if boating during fog, many things seem to be of a bigger size than they actually are. Visibility is badly affected in times of fog. Some things seem to be twice the size of what they actually are. And because of this, it seems that these objects are coming closer at a very quick speed.
Secondly, boating without a compass is not advisable at all. Without a compass there will be no reference points and as a result, navigating will become difficult even for someone who is very experienced in boating. To move in a straight line, take alight line and attach it from the mast. Also, drag any object that can make resistance over the stern. Keep the line in center as it moves over the stern.
Sometimes, having handy little scrap objects are very useful in boating. These can be used to rid the hose of any object that might be blocking it. It can also be used for hooking and picking things which cannot be reached otherwise. For example, a wire hanger can be used as a lie down, to clear limber holes, change cotter pins and so on.
Also, if you have an old hose, never put it in the trash as there is always some way in which it can be put to some good use. Take a piece of hose which is about a foot in length and then cut it through and wrap it around the dock lines and also anchor lines as they move through the chocks. This prevents any kind of chaffing.
