Sri Lanka

A jewel in the Indian Ocean, this is what Sri Lanka. For its Buddhist ruins, for its golden beaches, its jungle scenery, tea plantations and rice paddies, for its wildlife but also and above all for its people, warm, welcoming and external, are all reasons to travel to Sri Lanka.

A warm welcome
Whether Tamils, Sinhalese or Muslims, the Sri Lankans cultivate the sense of hospitality. Everywhere, your guests and your contact will try to assist you or inform you as much as possible. It is rare to see someone, or explodes in anger, the legendary Sri Lankan smile on everyone’s lips.

Sri Lanka

An affordable destination
Sri Lanka remains one of the cheapest destinations in the world. But prices have risen slightly because of the tsunami that resulted in significant costs of reconstruction, on the one hand, and the decline of tourism (one of the primary resources of the country) due to the disaster suffered by the population on the other.

Culture
The island is rich in archaeological sites in the foreground. Pagodes, dagoba exceptional monuments and sites are legion. Buddhist culture has produced over 2 300 years of treasures of architecture and sculpture to be found in museums, national parks and sites all over the island.

Nature and environment protection
Monoculture of tea, offering an exceptional view over much of the center of the island, has somewhat changed the natural environment, but the Sri Lankan government took the initiative to create national parks where wildlife and flora are protected. It should also learn that Sri Lanka was the first country in the world to set up nature reserves preserving its nature, nearly 400 years before our era!

Colorful and spicy cuisine
Sri Lankan cuisine is delicious. It is famous for its curries, assorted vegetables and meat very fine, mixing spices and oriental flavors. The kitchen is very popular spicy, but in general it is not offered to tourists because of its high content of chilli. In cities, there are many restaurants serving Western cuisine correct.

The land of tea
Sri Lanka is famous for its varieties of tea that you drink anywhere, any occasion. But there are also good beer served in bottles of 50 cl and always fresh, requires heat. It cools as easily on the roadside with the juice of green coconuts that you sip through a straw.

Neat crafts and cheap
The woodwork is very interesting, particularly with regard to elephants, furniture or the masks of “health”, grimacing figures representing the pantheon of Sri Lanka. There are also beautiful embroidered fabrics, batiks and many spices that you buy in markets or in the “spice gardens.
